MapInfo Corporation the provider of location-intelligence solutions for the enterprise, recently announced the appointment of Simon Bird as director of sales for MapInfo Asia Pacific. In his new role, Bird will be responsible for revenue generation in the Asia Pacific region and will focus on developing strategies to drive business growth via MapInfo’s direct sales force and its channel partners. Reporting to Bird will be Sales Managers located in China, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
Prior to taking on his new role, Bird was the regional sales director for MapInfo’s EMEA operations. In this role, he managed direct and partner sales teams across multiple markets. Since joining MapInfo in 1994, he has acquired an extensive understanding of the company and the markets in which it operates. Prior to joining MapInfo, Bird worked as an account manager for an Oracle consultancy. He is a graduate of the University of Portsmouth where he studied Systems Engineering.
