October 7, 2002 – MapInfo Corporation has announced its support for Microsoft .NET technologies. Using MapInfo’s technology with Microsoft .NET will enable companies to more easily and cost-effectively deploy location-based applications and Web services.

MapInfo’s Windows-based products including MapInfo Professional, MapInfo MapX, MapInfo MapX Mobile and MapInfo MapXtreme will fully support the Microsoft NET Framework by early 2003, allowing developers to quickly and easily incorporate cutting-edge location-based technology into their applications and services. For the first time, a programmer using MapInfo products who is able to write desktop applications can write Web applications with no additional languages or API’s to learn. This dramatically reduces time to market and decreases upfront costs. MapInfo’s new architecture built for the Microsoft .NET Framework will reduce ramp up time, and allow customers to focus on their business needs instead of spending time learning mapping technology, maximizing their return on investment.
