India: Mahindra Satyam – formerly known as Satyam Computers – is set to offer its engineering services to customers in the Middle East for the first time. The firm has signed a contract with an Egyptian company to supply GIS and is in initial discussions with an Abu Dhabi firm for providing aircraft design services.

Manojeet Chowdhury, Vice-President and Head of Middle East and North America region, said, “We are in initial discussions with the Abu Dhabi group and have just signed a contract in Egypt. Globally we have Airbus as a customer, but in the Middle East these services were not available previously. The company also plans to target the sports vertical this year and expand its consultancy services in the region.”

Tech Mahindra, the information technology arm of Mahindra group, took control of its much larger rival Satyam Computers. Mahindra Satyam is targeting aerospace, mechanical and electronics engineering and specialised fields such as GIS. The engineering services team is based at the head office in India.
