LizardTech, Inc. announced the appointment of Karen Morley as Director of Product Management, Geospatial Imaging. Morley will guide the market specifications and productization of LizardTech’s geospatial imaging solutions including LizardTech’s MrSID(r) software solution family.

Morley brings 20 years of geospatial and high-tech industry experience to LizardTech. Morley came from SeminarSource where she served as senior product manager implementing product definition and delivery procedures for an Internet ASP offering. Before SeminarSource, Morley was at Earth Resources Mapping (ER Mapper) where she was worldwide product manager for
their Image Web Server product. Immediately prior, she was a senior product manager at Autodesk for both AutoCAD LT and Autodesk Map product lines. Morley previously also managed technical roles in the geospatial arena, such as photogrammetric engineering and GIS project manager at Towill, Inc and remote imagery database manager for the United States Air Force. Morley attended Temple University with study concentrations in Economics, Statistics and also was an honors graduate at Lowry Air Force Base (CCAF) specializing in Management, Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry.

Karen will be directing the productization and roll out of LizardTech’s next-generation MrSID technology. MrSID is the leading image format and technology that has direct support from every major geospatial software vendor. MrSID is a wavelet-based imaging technology that reduces high-resolution images to less than five percent of their original file size for fast panning and zooming while maintaining original image quality. The latest MrSID Software Development Kits to incorporate the next-generation lossless viewing technology were made available to developers in April; the encoding products are planned for a Fall 2002 release.
