Kuwait Municipality inks KD 602K deal to update GIS system

Kuwait: To upgrade its geographical information system (GIS), the Municipality of Kuwait has signed a deal worth KD 602,000. The deal has been signed with a pair of engineering firms, with an implementation period of up to 15 months. Director General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Manfouhi described the GIS as an integral component of the Municipality’s development plans.

The GIS system will be heavily relied upon to conduct a number of Municipal tasks, particularly, mounting construction projects, said Al-Manfouhi.

Calling the move a step towards fully adopting an information technology system, Al-Manfouhi noted that a broad information system such as GIS would lead to increased productivity which the facilitating the works of the Municipality's various departments.
