Harrisburg, Pa., USA–GeoDecisions, an information technology company specialising in geospatial solutions, recently commemorated the 10-year anniversary of its IRRIS technology. Since its inception in 1999, IRRIS has utilised the latest advances in IT, GIS and LBS to aid decision makers in coordinating response, managing assets, and tracking equipment or personnel through a common operating picture.
A secure geospatial Web application, IRRIS provides users with the access, knowledge, and visibility to effectively view, analyse, and track mobile assets on a global basis. It incorporates and displays worldwide infrastructure data, live-vehicle tracking, near-real-time weather, and active route conditions in a map format. A commercial version of IRRIS provides comprehensive asset management and logistics capabilities.
The IRRIS project has been the recipient of many national awards, including a Grand Conceptor award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania; a Geospatial Leadership Award from GeoWorld magazine and GeoTec Media; a Federal Government Innovator award from Accenture; an Innovator Award from Application Development Trends magazine; and an Intergovernmental Solutions Award from the American Council for Technology and the Industry Advisory Council.
