Intuicom, Inc., a provider of wireless data networks optimised for real-time Global Positioning (GPS), announced that it has been selected to provide an Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) System to manage the buses for University of Colorado at Boulder (CU). The Intuicom system allows CU’s Transportation Services to monitor and manage its buses from a central site, providing even better scheduling and service to its riders and increased route efficiency.
The award was the result of a solicitation to provide a Global Positioning System (GPS)-based AVL solution for the University’s bus fleet. The Intuicom solution — installed on CU’s thirteen buses — includes the in-vehicle Intuicom SmartGPS Tracker(TM) GPS-enhanced radio transceivers and Intuicom’s Wireless Gateway Management Software (WiGate(TM)) for management and control of the wireless network.
Unlike AVL systems that use cellular data communications, Intuicom’s “always on” private wireless network enables real-time bi-directional data flow, is never held up by cellular problems such as weak signal, dropped calls and capacity limitations; provides higher bandwidth and requires no activation or ongoing monthly fees.
