Canada: DBx Geomatics released a new on-line interactive map displaying the latest population statistics for Canada. The new high-quality cartographic publication showcased demographic data for the 5,253 Census subdivisions in the country, from coast to coast.
According to the 2011 Census, the Canadian population grew by 5.9 percent over the past five years. The innovative analytical tools of CartoVista enabled the interactive discovery of these changes.
The 2011 and the 2006 population indicators are available as predefined themes. The end user can simply make a selection from the drop down menu to display either the percentage of population change or the population density (per square km). The map shows various thematic analyses at the municipal level, according to the geographic boundaries defined by Statistics Canada. It is possible to easily change the thematic settings, such as the number of ranges or the colour palette, which will immediately update the map.
CartoVista offers interactive selection tools to analyse any area of interest in Canada. For example, by selecting all municipalities within a given radius, one is able to obtain a detailed data table. The selection can also be displayed as an animated histogram to view the indicators graphically and easily compare the different values.
