The town of Siegburg has equipped its communal Internet portal with a dynamic vector-based street map. With the aid of SICAD Internet Map Service (SICAD-IMS), the NetMap application can directly access the local government’s official database.
At present, Siegburg is expanding its tourist information with e-government topics such as development planning and with the latest traffic and construction site information. The added benefit of street map queries and rapid access to the latest information has led to a massive increase in traffic on the Siegburg website.
In terms of its content, the NetMap interactive street map is based on the basic digital map (DGK5), the digital ortho-photos of the Siegburg district and the street map derived from ATKIS data using GeoStadt. The street map application on the website uses SICAD Internet Map Service and HRZoom to access the relevant sections of the database in the town’s geo information system. The data will be extended in the internal departments and will also be made available, as before, via SICAD-IMS and GISeye on the adinistration’s intranet. Siegburg’s “intelligentstreet map” was implemented by BT-GIS, the SICAD partner company in Bonn.
