Spain: National Statistics Institute (INE: Instituto Nacional de Estadística), Spain, in collaboration with Esri, developed an online GIS tool for Population and Housing Census 2011. This is the first time, INE is conducting GIS-based census.
Using the GIS tool, citizens can participate in online surveys, conducted by the INE. In addition, the INE incorporated new features such as the use of mobile and geo-reference tagging.
