India: Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority, IRDA, is mulling the use of remote sensing technology as a mapping tool for agricultural yield estimation and crop losses in India. The move comes in the wake of back-to-back monsoon failures. Officials indicate that the IRDA has been deep in discussions with stakeholders in this regard, conducting several research studies and experiments throughout the country.
