India: Jharkhand government plans to use geospatial technology for the forthcoming tiger census in the state.
The tiger census will be done under the ”Tiger Habitat and Population Evaluation System” programme of the Ministry of Environment and Forests. It will involve mapping, satellite and field data collection, GIS modelling and validation. Currently, forest officials and staff are being trained to use the state-of-the-art technology.
