India: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to carry out geo-mapping of the Lakaki lake in Model Colony to find out its live streams and biodiversity before desilting the lake to preserve its biodiversity.
This summer, the lake’s water level has gone down considerably and therefore the PMC’s garden department has taken a project of desilting the lake by flushing out the remaining water to take out the silt. However, the green activists turned red over PMC’s move stating that it is the unscientific way of desilting a lake and it will harm the lake’s biodiversity.
