Positive Systems, Inc. has been awarded with a contract to provide second generation orthophotos of historic imagery of historic imagery of the Upper Yellowstone River. The project is being undertaken in support of the Montana Governor’s Upper Yellowstone River Task Force, a collaboration of local area citizens, and local, state, and federal agencies including: Park Conservation District, City of Livingston, Park County, the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Montana Department of Transportation, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, National Park Service (Yellowstone National Park), US Army Corps of Engineers, and US Forest Service. Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, National Park Service and the US Army Corp of Engineers. Established in November of 1997, the Task Force was created to provide a forum for the discussion of social andng environmental issues that affecteffect the Upper Yellowstone River Basin. In particular, to bring together landowners, recreationists, and community leaders to develop a shared understanding of the issues and competing values and uses that impact the Upper Yellowstone River.
The Oorthophotos produced by this project will be used to determine changes in the river channel as well as toand record changes to vegetation and wildlife habitat withinalong the river corridor over the past 50 years’s bank.
