Hesai successfully released its next-generation mechanical LiDAR, Pandar128. Pandar 128 is one of the most advanced mechanical LiDARs available and it offers an ideal solution for autonomous driving applications.
Pandar128 has the following specifications and features:
- Resolution: up to 0.1ยฐ (H) * 0.125ยฐ (V) at 10 Hz refresh rate
- Up to 6,912,000 points/sec
- Detection capability: 200 m (10% reflectivity target)
- Accompanied with high reflectivity accuracy and precision
- It has a higher ingress protection rating: IP6K9K
Pandar128 represents a huge leap in performance over existing mechanical LiDAR sensors. It offers the best horizontal resolution (up to 0.1ยฐ), 1.5x the entire points produced by other available 128-channel LiDARs and features a detection capability of 200 meters @ 10% reflectivity.
Pandar128 is designed with several other noteworthy improvements. It offers a higher level of ingress protection (IP6K9K), which ensures reliability in all weather conditions. Pandar128 retains a little form factor: it’s just 7 mm taller and weighs 1.63 kg only. Its compact design allows for seamless integration into a vehicle’s exterior for a more aesthetic configuration. The new system architecture also reduces power consumption, requiring a maximum of 27 W (10 Hz), despite the enormous data volume.
Most notably, Pandar128 is perfectly suitable for automotive volume production. It has skilled comprehensive testing and is embedded with several innovative features, like self-diagnosis for every beam. The sensor data is encoded to safeguard against data misrepresentation or falsification. A critical sensor in autonomous driving systems, LiDAR โ and its production readiness โ may be a prerequisite for the large-scale deployment of autonomous vehicles. With Pandar128, Hesai continues to push the boundaries of LiDAR technology and engineering to assist achieve this ultimate goal.
