HERE launches community mapping project in India

< 1 Minute Read

India: Nokia’s HERE has launched a community mapping pilot project in India. The project is aimed at crowdsourcing maps.

India is the first major country where HERE will combine its own data collection methods with a crowd-mapping initiative. HERE has selected a ream of local experts from more than 12 universities in the country. A regional team of more than 1,000 people will work with these experts to gather precise and locally relevant information. The local experts will share data by using Map Creator, a HERE tool that allows people to add missing streets, bridges, points of interests (POIs) and other information to the map. They will use HERE’s community map moderation system to verify edits before integrating them into the base map.
