Heliborne geophysical survey to assess Indian city’s groundwater resources

Patna: The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), under the Union ministry of water resources, is likely launch heli-borne transient electromagnetic survey in Patna for accurate and comprehensive assessment of groundwater resources of the district for India”s major water demands are fulfilled from groundwater. This survey is being introduced for the first time in the country. A helicopter fitted with necessary equipment would take off from the Bihar Flying Club at Patna airport and hover around the entire district continuously for three days, collecting important data with regard to subsurface geology and groundwater occurrence up to a depth of 300metres.
