< 1 Minute Read

The European GNSS Agency (GSA) have just launched the new MyGalileoSolution competition. The competition is targeting European innovators and entrepreneurs who want to develop location-based solutions, like mobile applications, wearable-based solutions, asset management and tracking solutions, or robotics, using Galileo as a source of positioning, navigation and/or timing.

ย MyGalileoSolution is the largest competition ever organized by the GSA, with a prize pool of about โ‚ฌ 1.5 million (approximately $1.79 million). It consists of two independent and parallel tracks, all with an inventory of goals and deliverables. Track 1 – From Idea to Prototype โ€“ aims to develop a beta version of an application or a prototype of a solution executing and implementing an idea, reaching minimum 50% of its functional capacity. Track 2 -From Prototype to Product โ€“ aims to develop a totally functional solution able to be commercialised ranging from a beta version of an application or a prototype.

Pascal Claudel, GSA Acting executive, mentioned during a press release that Galileo has set the trend for dual-frequency chipsets, which give better accuracy and are more immune to multipath in urban environments. They’re looking forward to seeing innovators launching their disruptive GNSS solutions and turning them into real businesses, hence resulting in European growth, competitiveness and sustainability. There’s โ€œspaceโ€ for all kinds of innovation, and that they expect the participation of all Member States. He added that he believes it’ll be a confidence boost for young entrepreneurs and their capacity to grow and generate new solutions and businesses.

Projects are going to be evaluated in terms of their innovative nature, market potential, feasibility and Galileo relevance by a panel of GSA experts and the deadline for submission for both categories is September 30.
