GS50+ Centimeter-Level Data Collector available from Leica Geosystems

2 Minutes Read

The GS50+ data collector from Leica Geosystems’ GIS & Mapping Division is now available for purchase worldwide. The GS50+ is an upgrade to the GS50 with an added dual frequency engine and RTK capacity, which, when combined, provide quick and accurate 1 centimeter-level data collection results.

Featuring an unparalleled combination of RTK range, fast initialization time, tracking stability and solution reliability in real-time, the GS50+ provides a centimeter coordinate in real-time. Like the GS50, the GS50+ can obtain 40-centimeter DGPS accuracy, 30-centimeter accuracy with post-processing code-observations, and 1-centimeter post-processing code- and phase-observations using Leica’s GIS DataPRO™ office software.

The GS50+ stores ESRI Shapefiles in its GIS DataPRO software, which can automatically be transferred to any software capable of reading Shapefiles, such as ERDAS IMAGINE®, Leica Geosystems’ geographic imaging software.

The GS50+ offers new enhancements of the Firmware 4 for the GS50, with more power for Data Collection, Navigation and On-Screen Graphics. Firmware 4 offers improved ease-of-use and streamlined functionality for data collection, the ability to change display attributes of features used in GIS DataPRO, and additional consistency checks for even safer data collection and more.

Like the GS50, the GS50+ offers MaxTrak™, Leica Geosystems’ reliable and precise tracking technology that ensures continuous tracking through dense foliage, and ClearTrak™, the most accurate coding technology in the industry that performs multipath mitigation and carrier phase smoothing. The GS50+ features full expandability, offering scalable architecture in which users can switch from GIS functionality to survey functionality or add GIS capabilities to an existing survey receiver. Other GS50/GS50+ features include a real-time accuracy monitor, graphical navigation display, area/perimeter calculation, and one-step transformation and coordinate geometry that allows users to conform to any coordinate system in the field and on-the-fly.

All existing GS50 users will have the ability to upgrade to the GS50+ without purchasing a new sensor. As no other company in the industry offers upgrades to its customers’ GIS data collection hardware, Leica Geosystems’ upgrade method is unique. In addition, existing accessories do not need to be changed and no additional operation training is required. For maximum user convenience, the user has the option of carrying the system in a backpack, setting it up on the pole provided, or using a combination of both.
