US: Google Inc.”s $1 billion acquisition of Waze will not be challenged by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the company said.

Google was informed by the federal agency”s decision last week, the company revealed. The FTC has declined to comment.

Google bought Waze in June in what was widely seen as a move to boost the Internet giant”s already strong position in mapping. In August, Google said users of Google Maps would be able to get real-time traffic information from Waze, which offers reports on traffic and road conditions from a community of users.
