Google picks Lenovo to produce 3D mapping smartphones

US: Google’s ambitious Project Tango is finally bringing 3D mapping to consumers’ smartphones. Announcing a partnership with Lenovo at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016 in Las Vegas for the same, Google clarified that the technology will help users to navigatie precisely in indoor locations with the help of cameras, sensors and computer-vision software that build 3-D maps of their surroundings in real time.

Though the name of the handset was not revealed, the phone is expected to be ready by the summer of 2016 at a retail price of less than $500. Qualcomm is supplying processor chips for the handset.
