Ireland: Ireland’s public transport system has been mapped by Google, enabling commuters to plan their journeys from door to destination. The National Transport Authority (NTA), Ireland has collaborated with Google for this purpose. Google Maps Transit allows commuters and tourists to plan trips using features such as walking directions, estimated journey times and the ability to specify the desired departure or arrival time. The authority provided Google with the route network and timetable data behind its Journey Planner, which means that all bus services are now mapped on Google Transit.
Google Transit is available in over 800 cities and Google Maps has over a billion active monthly users, half of whom are on mobile devices.
