US: Google is launching Eddystone, a new set of technology products that can be used to build apps that provide engaging location-based and contextually relevant experiences. The technology is based on electronic beacons, which can be described as low-energy and battery-friendly hardware that use Bluetooth to transmit data. Google’s Eddystone, is capable of working with any platform that supports Bluetooth Low Energy. This includes both Android and iOS devices. Eddystone is open source and can be integrated with other technologies, such as GPS and WiFi.
