India: A public monitoring app, called Bhuvan Ganga, will back the Namami Gange river surface cleaning project in India. The ISRO-backed India-specific GIS tool will ensure real-time and public monitoring of river surface pollution. The public can capture real-time images of the river Ganga and upload them on the app. Once the image is received by the central database, the contractors in charge of the surface cleaning at that particular location will be held accountable for any laxity.
