GIFAS (Groupement des industries françaises aéronautiques et spatiales),  the French Aerospace Industries Association and Indian Space Association (ISpA), an industry body representing the emerging New space sector, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at the Indian Space Conclave, 2023 on working together on business development, innovation and policy regulation.

This strategic partnership covers defence, nuclear energy, and security between both countries.
Created in 1908, GIFAS is a union that brings more than 400 companies together from prime contractors, and systems manufacturers to SMEs.

H.E. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador-Designated of France in India graced the occasion with his inaugural address. He said, “There is a fruitful partnership between India and France in the space sectors. Our two countries have a shared vision in building resilient ecosystems.

We are linked by a strategic partnership forged in 1999, which is extremely comprehensive covering defence, nuclear energy, security and space within the Indo-pacific partnership. Our two countries initiated space dialogue in Paris, marking new phase in our strategic relations.”

“France and India are linked by 60 years of space cooperation, with the first bilateral agreement dating back to 1964. Our bilateral space collaboration shows remarkable continuity and ingenuity over six decades. From climate monitoring, to natural resource monitoring, we can jointly create innovative space applications,” he adds.
