geographIT was one of three presenters of a Shedding Light on LIDAR seminar hosted at the ESRI-Philadelphia office in Chesterbrook. Two one-day seminars were filled to capacity on June 24 and 25, with 100 participants representing utility, aerospace, engineering and surveying companies, natural resource management agencies, and state and local government.
Mr. Mike Shillenn of Photo Science provided an introduction to Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) technology, data collection methods and products. Mr. Ian Kramer of ESRI reviewed ArcGIS 3-D visualization software, LIDAR data processing tools, and LIDAR data storage options. Ms. Shaun Levi of geographIT discussed LIDAR business applications demonstrating cartographic techniques, data analysis methods, and web applications.
