GE Energy announces its Geospatial Multitranslator software

< 1 Minute Read

GE Energy, the suppliers of power generation and energy delivery technology have announced that it has developed a new geospatial multitranslator software product, the Smallworld Spatial Objects Manager (SOM) for Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) 4. GE Energy’s Smallworld SOM for FME is the latest addition to the SOM suite of interoperability products.

This new geospatial software product enables users of Smallworld’s Core Spatial Technology, Smallworld Spatial Intelligence and Smallworld Internet Application Server to access many formats of geospatial data without the need for translation. The product’s open architecture also provides a platform for a scalable solution.

Through the use of the Smallworld SOM for FME, users can access data ‘live’ from other entities such as state and local governments without the need for conversion. This open data access can also be useful for utilities wishing to deploy other GE Energy products such as the PowerOn outage management system on non-GE geographical information systems.
