Garmin, a renowned manufacturer that delivers innovative GPS technology across diverse markets, including aviation, marine, fitness, outdoor recreation, tracking, and mobile apps,ย has launched two handheld devices GPSMAP 66sr and GPSMAP 65sย with the Indian Space Research Organization’s Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC).
The devices have been demonstrated at ISRO office in Delhi. Sources said that ISRO has asked the company to integrate NavIC into all their upcoming satellite navigation-based devices. This is a major step in the direction of Indiaโs endeavor towards self-reliance and boasted highly accurate timing signals.
Apart from NavIC compatibility, the GPSMAP 66sr has latest military specialized features like compatibility with night vision goggles to make it easy for troops to use the devices in day and night operations without removing their night-vision goggles every time.
The Garmin GPSMAP 65s is a multi-global navigation satellite system (GNSS) handheld with sensors (including an altimeter for elevation data, barometer to monitor the weather and 3-axis electronic compass). The 65s also sports a helical type of antenna which provides optimal accuracy and faster satellite reception even in steep hills, urban canyons and forests with dense trees.
