DMTI Spatial, Canada’s geospatial data provider, has been selected by Garmin International Inc., a GPS company, to supply its Canadian map data to be used in Garmin’s newest version of MapSource® MetroGuide® Canada.
The latest release of Garmin’s acclaimed MetroGuide, Canada v4, will now feature the quality, accuracy and content found in DMTI Spatial map data. Garmin’s choice of DMTI Spatial data provides customers with vastly improved map coverage with additional content over past releases.
“Our Canadian MapSource product, with DMTI Spatial data, will delight GPS users in Canada with an exceptionally comprehensive and content-rich tool.” said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s Director of Marketing.
The new MetroGuide Canada will feature DMTI Spatial’s CanMap® RouteLogistics and Enhanced Points of Interest (EPOI) data. Shipped via CD-ROM, maps can be displayed and selected on a PC, and then downloaded to compatible Garmin GPS units. MetroGuide Canada features detailed, routable maps throughout Canada with over 750,000 points of interest like restaurants, lodging, and attractions.
Jo Hansen, Garmin dealer and President of GPS Central, had high praise for the partnership. “Bottom line,” said Hansen, “our Garmin customers have been asking for improved Canadian data coverage and content. It’s great to be able to tell them we can now deliver.”
