< 1 Minute Read

The US Geological Survey (USGS) has awarded Fugro aย newย Geospatial Products and Services Contractย (GPSC)ย toย support the Nationalย Geospatialย Programย (NGP), which provides a digital foundation for geospatial infrastructureย in the US.ย Under thisย indefinite delivery indefinite quantityย (IDIQ)ย contract, theย USGS will issue Fugro task ordersย on an as-needed basisย over a period of up to 5 years. Work will comprise a broad range ofย Geo-data servicesย to benefitย one or more components of the NGP,ย includingย Theย National Map, the 3D Elevation Program, the National Hydrography Dataset, the Watershed Boundary Datasetย and the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative, among others.

Theย award builds on decades ofย experienceย between Fugro and the USGSย and will involveย topographic,ย bathymetric,ย thematic, geophysicalย and hydrologicalย mapping.ย To meet the agencyโ€™s current push for a continuous, integratedย 3D elevation and hydrography surface, Fugroโ€™sย new GPSC contractย provides the USGSย withย access toย multipleย innovative lidar mapping solutions.ย Crewed and autonomous systems,ย combinedย with cloudprocessing technology,ย deliverย safe, sustainable and streamlinedย mapping of theย land-water interface, and the resulting Geo-dataย isย criticalย for theย effective management of theย countryโ€™sย infrastructure, natural resourcesย and inland water channels.

Edward Saade, President of Fugro in the US,ย said:ย โ€œFugro is pleased to be a repeat recipient of the GPSC contract and we look forward toย providingย the USGSย withย high-accuracy, high-resolution Geo-data to support decisionmakers in their resource management activities. We are especially enthusiastic about ourย combinedย land and hydrographicย capabilities, which safely and sustainably supportย flood management,ย coastal resilience, water quality protection and responsible development for a safe and liveable world.โ€
