Franson Technology has released Franson GpsTools v2.20, an easy-to-use, cost-efficient way to develop GPS, mapping, and basic GIS applications in Visual Studio. With a rich set of samples and documentation, it’s easy for developers who are new to GPS programming to become productive immediately in Windows, Pocket PC, WindowsCE, ActiveX, and .NET. Version 2.20 of Franson GpsTools includes vector map support. You can draw polygons and polylines. You can also load, display, save, and manage ESRI Shapefiles.
Franson GpsTools provides easy access to GPS position, speed, and satellite information, without any knowledge of low level GPS protocols. Geographic coordinates can be converted among most coordinate systems including UTM, WGS84, NAD27, and NAD83. Using the new custom grid and custom datum feature, almost all geographic coordinate systems on earth are supported.
