WorldView-3 - Credits:DigitalGlobeUS: Exelis has delivered an integrated, super-spectral payload to DigitalGlobe. The payload includes a telescope, sensor and shortwave infrared (SWIR) system for the WorldView-3 satellite.

DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-3 is the first multipayload, commercial satellite to carry such capabilities. The SWIR bands will enable WorldView-3 to penetrate through haze, fog, smog, dust, smoke, mist and cirrus clouds. It will allow clearer identification of materials not visible to the human eye. It will be very useful in applications for oil, gas and vegetation and for a number of other uses. WorldView-3 satellite is scheduled to launch in mid-2014 and will be capable of 0.25 metre resolution.
