Electronic cartography of Azerbaijan’s 40 regions begins

Baku, Azerbaijan: Archaeological excavations will be conducted in 40 regions of Azerbaijan this year, deputy director of the Archaeology and Ethnography Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Najaf Museyibli told APA.

Museyibli stated that electronic cartography of the archaeological monuments in Ganja-Gazakh, Garabagh and Nakhchivan has been started since this year. This process will cover stage-by-stage the archaeological monument in the other regions. Currently more than 2000 monuments are in the state registration. More than 40 monuments of them are of universal importance.

According to Museyibli, archaeological excavations will start in May-June and continue till the autumn, before rainy season.
