Ekahau, the wireless positioning technology provider, has informed that it will enter in the Wi-Fi site survey and network optimization market by utilizing its award winning wireless location finding platform, the Ekahau Positioning Engine, as the core technology. Ekahau Positioning Engine can pinpoint the location of a wireless client device, such as PDA, laptop or other Wi-Fi enabled device, with an average of 3.5ft (1m) accuracy.
The first product of the new network enhancement line is the Ekahau Site Survey (ESS), a tool that helps the VARs and system integrators installing 802.11 networks to optimize the access point locations for improved network throughput and quality of service.
The ESS commercial availability is scheduled for February 2003, with pricing starting at $950.00. Ekahau is demonstrating ESS at 802.11 Planet Conference & Expo, December 4-5, 2002 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, CA.
