Ethiopia: The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) will host the GSDI 14 and AfricaGIS 2013 conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 4-8 November.
The Commission is organising this conference in collaboration with Addis Ababa University, the Ethiopian Mapping Agency (EMA) and the GIS Society of Ethiopia (GISSE). The theme of the conference is ‘Spatial Enablement in Support of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction’. The programme will feature discussion sessions on capacity building, SDI, space policy, programmes and projects. An exhibition of the latest products and services in geospatial science and technology will also be organised. Environment Information Systems in Africa (EIS-Africa) and the Global Geospatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association are also partnering to organise the conference.
