DSS wins Irish e-government contract

< 1 Minute Read

Irish IT firm DSS has secured a contract to supply the Irish government with technology for an ambitious e-government project. DSS will provide the Local Government Computer Services Board (LGCSB) with HP ProLiant Blade Server technology for its “Mobhaile” pilot project. Mobhaile, which translates as “my town,” is a Web-based service that aims to provide a wealth of information pertinent to localities across the country for citizens and businesses. The Web site, www.mobhaile.ie, which styles itself as “an all-compassing guide to local services,” combines GIS technology with information on communities, business and government. Explaining the decision to select HP technology for the project, Tim Willoughby, assistant director, on-line services division, LGCSB, said: “While the initial pilot supports seven local authorities, the technology had to be scalable enough to allow all additional local authorities to efficiently come on-line.”
