Data Critical to Solve World’s Pressing Problems: Autodesk CEO

3 Minutes Read

There is no doubt that the world around us is changing at a much rapid pace โ€“ a pace that we did not expect three years ago. The uncertainty today did not exist three years ago โ€“ so much so that three-fourths of the world’s population struggles with the unknown โ€“ changing and transforming how the world works.

More than the world changing โ€“ the workplace is rapidly transforming, augmented, and enabled by technological innovation. This requires that we โ€“ as individuals, businesses, and governments- take advantage of the changing landscape and evolve our working methods.

Autodesk AI Launched

At Autodesk University Day I in Las Vegas, the central theme of the General Session with Andrew Anagnost,ย  President and CEO of Autodesk, centred around the current uncertainties and the technology evolution and availability of solving the world’s most pressing problems.

Recognizing and emphasizing that each industry has reached a tipping point and is evolving to make the most of the technology evolution โ€“ the AU 2023 saw the launch of Autodesk AI โ€“ a transformative solution that will enhance productivity, boost innovation, and unlock creativity across industries.

Available in Autodesk products and native to itsย Design and Make Platform, Autodesk AI provides intelligent assistance and generative capabilities that allow customers to imagine and explore freely while producing precise, accurate, and innovative results.

Notably, Autodesk has been investing in artificial intelligence and its capabilities for more than ten years with its generative design capabilities โ€“ however, with the launch of Autodesk AI, the company recognizes and augments the opportunity of looking at ‘data as not a problem to be managed but as an opportunity to be tapped,’ as emphasized by Andrew in the General Session.

The AI solution is a cloud-connected software enabling stakeholders to tap into AI-powered insights and automation to drive better outcomes within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC), Manufacturing, and Entertainment Industries. “AI is the future of design and make, and Autodesk is pioneering this transition,” said Anagnost. “We sit at the junction of many of the most creative and impactful industries in the world. We’ll continue to invest in AI because of its transformational potential to drive better outcomes for our customers’ businesses and the world.

As a solution in itself, Autodesk AI will augment creative exploration and problem-solving, automating tedious and repetitive work โ€“ including design processes and procedural tasks, and increase the industry outcomes to offer predictive insights.

Today, Autodesk AI is available across the Autodesk portfolio, with new capabilities in constant development.ย AI-driven automation, seemingly at the core vision of Autodesk AI, will empower and enable the AI naysayers to try it!

Autodesk Forma and AI

On the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction side, Autodesk announced the launch of Autodesk Forma in early 2023. The Forma is the first set of capabilities of the industry cloud for AEC โ€“ expanding the BIM process to the early process to the early planning and design phase.

Amy Bunsznel, Executive VP, AEC, addressed the AU 2023, announcing the evolution of Autodesk Forma and its’ adoption growth stories. She emphasized the enhanced capabilities of Autodesk Forma, an Autodesk AI-powered design solution augmenting the project workflow process โ€“ driving conceptual designs, capabilities, and predictive analytics to help the planning and design team make solid foundations for the projects.

Data at the core of AI

Diving deeper into the data component of AI, Raji Arasu, Executive VP and CTO, Autodesk, explained, ‘Data is make or break for AI.‘ She emphasized that AI requires expansive, accurate, and granular data โ€“ and Autodesk AI aims to ensure the same by treating data more securely and responsibly while building a competitive advantage for its users.

With Autodesk AI, the company will solve problems of data granularity, interoperability, and accessibility problems, thus solving the industry’s fundamental problems. As Andrew summed the session up โ€“ imperative to use data to create competitive advantage and predictable and actionable outcomes to solve the world’s pressing problems.

I look forward to Day 2 โ€“ when Ryan Reynolds takes centre stage at AU 2023 in Las Vegas !
