Spain: Sixtema, a Spanish company, has launched ikiMap, a free web service which allows users to create and share maps. The objective of ikiMap is to combine the concept of social networking with cartography and maps.
Users can create their own maps by uploading files in KML or GPX format or directly by drawing on the map. They can vote for other users’ maps, add comments, create groups of friends and create their own theme-based channels.There is also a search box that can help them locate specific maps, channels or users.
ikiMap has already received encouraging response from its users with thousands of them having registered for its services.
