Costa Rica: Immigration authorities of Costa Rica developed electronic maps which give details about areas where immigrants live in the country. The maps have been developed under the migration mapping programme.
Freddy Montero, migration assistant, said, “The maps gives detail regarding the settlement pattern of the migrant population in several districts, neighbourhood etc. The maps will facilitate in formulating decisions on migration policies.”
Montero added that this programme will help the government in taking decisions regarding housing policies, providing basic facilities like water and energy. The maps will also help in curbing human trafficking.
