Swaziland: The Southern Africa Human Capacity Development Coalition (SAHCD), supported by the Ministry of Health, has conducted a mapping exercise for all community-based care and support services throughout Swaziland. This exercise will culminate into a directory for all community-based care and support (CBCS) services.
It is also a prelude to harmonising community based health care services undertaken by the various stakeholders in health in Swaziland. During the exercise, it was reiterated that CBCS offered mainly by volunteers, will be pivotal in improving access to health services in the country.
The motive behind the mapping exercise arose from the need to harmonise community-based care and support services. It was further strengthened by the fact that Swaziland, a country with just 1 128 814 people, has the highest HIV prevalence rate in the world with 26% of its adult population infected.
