Coboplan Co. Ltd. has become a commercial licensee of ER Mapper’s high-performance ECW JPEG 2000 software development kit (SDK). Coboplan will add unlimited ECW and JPEG 2000 compression and decompression functionality to its upcoming Maplet 2005 product. The ECW JPEG 2000 SDK is an easy-to-use implementation of the industry standard ECW and ISO standard JPEG 2000 image formats, providing for rapid integration of these formats into software applications.
Maplet has been ECW-enabled since 2001, with Maplet users enjoying ECW compressions of up to 500MB. Building upon this, Coboplan will include unlimited ECW and JPEG 2000 compression into Maplet 2005. Maplet users will be able to prepare, use and serve large multi-terabyte sized ECW and JPEG 2000 images within Maplet’s scaleable client-server environment.
