< 1 Minute Read

The City University of Hong Kong and the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau have signed an agreement on collaborative research in the area of atmospheric science to further the research frontiers of the two regions. In line with its mission to contribute its knowledge towards the development of the society, City University will apply technologies developed in research on environment-related issues to the Macao region through this collaboration.

Under the agreement, an immediate collaborative project funded by the Macao Special Administrative Region government, will be conducted to develop a remote-sensing air-pollution monitoring system for Macao. The City University team at the Laboratory for Atmospheric Research on atmospheric remote sensing, under the leadership of Andrew Cheng, associate professor with the Department of Physics and Materials Science, will work with colleagues of the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau to build a laser system to measure pollutant concentrations in the Macao region.
