China turns to data sharing to improve quake monitoring

< 1 Minute Read

China: China's earthquake and geo-information authorities have signed a deal to share data, in order to strengthen their capabilities in earthquake prevention and relief. The China Earthquake Administration (CEA) and the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geo-information have agreed to regularly exchange data. These datasets would include information from the Global Navigation Satellite System, gravitational observation, observation of magnetic fields, mapping of geological formations and topography, and remote sensing. The agencies will also launch gravitational surveillance in Tibet. Moreover, China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and gravitation satellites will also be used in quake prevention and disaster reduction.
