CES 2021: Sony launches Airpeak drone with Alpha camera system

< 1 Minute Read

At CES 2021, Sony, a Japanese company, showcased its Airpeak drone. The company boasts the drone as the world’s smallest drone capable with state-of-the-art Alpha cameras. The drone is designed in a way to enable Sony’s own imaging technology, especially its Alpha series of mirrorless.

“In order to fully support the creativity of video creators, the payload of the drone can be equipped with an Alpha mirrorless camera to capture high quality, full-frame aerial photography and video,” Sony said in a statement during the CES 2021, reported Business Standard.

The launch was done through a video of the drone fitted in a Sony Alpha 7S III camera. The initial announcement was made in November 2020.

The company looks to compete with other major drone players in the market. While DJI has locked the whole drone market, Sony’s model seems like a proprietary, purpose-built design. The Airpeak drone will be available in spring 2021. Sony has yet not revealed any information on the price.
