Boeing supports AI research funding for unmanned technologies

< 1 Minute Read

Boeing is seen as supporting research funding for unmanned technologies powered by artificial intelligence (AI), reported Defense One. The unmanned aircraft, which uses Artificial Intelligence to fly alongside manned combat jets, is seen by some companies as crucial to future wars.

The officials from Boeing have announced that an AI-equipped UAV is under development for the Australian military, and has flown for the first time. Executives see these loyal wingman drones as an untapped market with lots of potential. Further, Australian Government have purchased six unmanned aircraft as part of their Airpower Teaming System project.

Due to decrease in defense spending, some have questioned how dedicated Air Force will be to the project which in a way compete with expensive fighter jets, bombers, and aerial tankers.
