Belarus, Russia to update topographic maps

Belarus: Russia and Belarus will update their topographic maps. The issue will be discussed in a forthcoming joint meeting of the Federal Service for the State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography of the Russian Federation and the State Property Committee of the Republic of Belarus in Smolensk, BelTA learnt from the State Property Committee.

The Belarusian delegation will be led by Chairman of the Committee Georgy Kuznetsov. The sides are to discuss the implementation of the Union State topographic, geodesic and cartographic programme.

The agenda of the meeting will include the issue of SPOT satellite systems.

According to the State Property Committee, Belarus conducts a systematic work in cartography. Belarusian cartographers have developed an administrative map of the country, topographical maps, maps of regions and regional centres and many more. The work continues on the volumes of the Great Historical Atlas of Belarus.
