Bangkok to introduce GIS for checking payments of garbage collection fee

< 1 Minute Read

To convince the citizens of Bangkok to pay for trash collection, the city administration has lowered the fee for garbage collection to be collected on a quarterly basis instead of every month starting from May. If the new scheme proves successful, the city could switch to collecting fees twice a year and would adopt a GIS for checking payments.

The city council recently approved the fee cut to 20 baht from 40 baht per month per family, which will be announced in the Royal Gazette and take effect next month for households only. All 50 district offices have been instructed not to collect fees in advance, hire no garbage collectors as fee collectors, send letters to all houses informing them of the change which will boost work efficiency, lower costs and convince all families to pay.
