Autodesk recently announced that it has become a member of the Open Design Alliance (ODA). With this step, Autodesk aims to improve their customer’s experience in the AEC landscape.
Amy Bunszel, Autodesk SVP, mentioned in a statement that they had promised their architecture customers to work on the constructive criticism which Autodesk received from them earlier. With Autodesk’s membership in the ODA, they will accelerate their progress toward supporting this need. She added that they have put immense importance on getting this functionality to their customers at an accelerated pace.
Neil Peterson, ODA President, said that ODA welcomes Autodesk as its newest member. Their tools will allow Autodesk to provide long-term support for IFC, and they look forward to working closely together to ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained. He added that they are committed to creating an environment collaboration is hassle-free.
They envision a future where customers don’t need to stress about exchanging cumbersome files and can easily embrace workflows that transfer just the data needed to achieve the desired outcome. In this future, new forms of collaboration and new ways of creating value will be the norm and will expand the value of design data further downstream.
