UK: Astrium Services will now operate with immediate effect under its new name of Airbus Defense and Space, a division of Airbus Group. The change from Astrium Services to the new Airbus Defense and Space name is part of a rebranding throughout the wider EADS organisation. Earlier this year, EADS became Airbus Group, with three distinct divisions: Airbus, Airbus Defense and Space, and Airbus Helicopters. Airbus Defense and Space. The entire Astrium Services portfolio of satellite communications and geoinformation services will continue under the newly created Communication, Intelligence & Security (CIS) business line of Airbus Defense and Space.
The new Airbus Defense and Space set-up will allow all governmental and commercial satellite communication activities to be brought together into one integrated satellite communication unit, as part of CIS. “The mission of new satellite communication unit will be to be the provider of choice for trusted satellite communication-enabled solutions, with a very strong customer focus across all the company’s key vertical markets,” said Erik Ceuppens, Head of the satellite communications programme line.
