Astrata acquires China-based Yamei from Trimble

Singapore, October 31, 2014: Singapore based Astrata Group’s affiliate has bought the Chinese company Yamei Electronics Technology Company (Changchun) from Trimble for an undisclosed amount.

Yamei is China's leading manufacturer of intelligent electronics and systems for the automotive and commercial vehicle sectors, including Next Generation Keys, Vehicle remote diagnostics and management, tracking and control systems. The company was bought by Trimble in June 2011.

Astrata intends to manage and grow Yamei as part of its global transportation technology business. George M. Kappaz, Chairman of Astrata Group said "Yamei's top-end smart key and vehicle electronics business is highly complementary to our core location-based IT solutions. We are excited about the synergies with Yamei, and consider the Yamei business a compelling addition to our global product offering and a significant component of our China strategy. We expect to use this platform to significantly grow our business in China."

This is Astrata's second acquisition of a subsidiary of a major listed company this year, having acquired Qualcomm Enterprises Services Europe (Omnitracs Europe) from Qualcomm in January.
